Sesame Street is one of the most popular kids TV show. Sesame Street also has a YouTube video channel and that channel is getting close to around 1 billion total views. This number is interesting because it is usually pop stars and cat videos that hit this level of traffic.
This past Thursday, Sesame Street posted a video featuring a character named the Telly Monster. This is the first time that a nonprofit and U.S. children’s media outlet has hit nearly one billion views. As of the time I was writing this article, the channel is at around 980.9 million views.
“We have this theory that if we get content on multiple platforms and devices, it gives kids and families a chance to reinforce and experience the curriculum multiple times,” stated Sesame Workshop EVP of content and distribution Terry Fitzpatrick. “It blows me away to think about how popular and strong a platform (YouTube) has become for us.”
