SETI Revived with Financial Infusion from Jodie Foster, Astronauts and More

Posted Aug 12, 2011

The SETI program has been in financial hibernation for the past four months, but the Allen Telescope Array is now back with the help of some quickly-raised funding. The extraterrestrial intelligence-hunting money comes from Contact star Jodie Foster, Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders, sci-fi author Larry Niven and the SETIStars donation program. The $200,000 of funding will keep the dishes running for at least five months. The SETI Institute’s CEO Tom Pierson is hoping the US Air Force will step in to invest next. [Engadget, Cosmic Log]
