Sheryl Sandberg Becomes First Female On Facebook Board

Facebook has announced that Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of the company, has joined the company board of directors. Sandberg oversee’s Facebook’s business operations, sales, marketing, business development, legal department, HR, public policy, and communications.

?Sheryl has been my partner in running Facebook and has been central to our growth and success over the years,? stated Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. ?Her understanding of our mission and long-term opportunity, and her experience both at Facebook and on public company boards makes her a natural fit for our board.?

Before joining Facebook, Sandberg was VP of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google. Sandberg also worked as Chief of Staff for the United States Treasury Department working with President Bill Clinton. She started her career as an economist at the World Bank. She has a B.A. and M.B.A. from Harvard University. Sandberg is on the board of directors at The Walt Disney Company, Women for Women International, the Center for Global Development and V-Day.

Other Facebook board members include Mark Zuckerberg, Marc Andreessen, Erskine Bowles, Jim Brayer, Donald Graham, Reed Hastings, and Peter Thiel.
