SimCity Mac Version Gets Hit With Installation Issues

Posted Sep 2, 2013

Around 6 months ago, the new version of SimCity was launched on the PC and it was plagued with launch issues.  Electronic Arts has released the Mac version of SimCity this past week and it also ran into launch issues.  Fortunately, those issues have now been resolved.

“We are pleased to advise that the installation-related issues some players experienced with SimCity on Mac have been resolved,” said Electronics Arts in a statement sent to Polygon.  EA had to send a new update for the game that addresses the launch issue.

Some of the SimCity buyers were unable to install the game after downloading it and others were not able to get the game to launch.  One of the ways that people were able to resolve the issue was by switching the OS to English.  Another solution that EA’s Maxis recommended was to re-install Origin and opt in for the new Beta version.  The game also did not support Mac OS X 10.7.4 or the upcoming 10.9 version.

When the PC version of the game launched, EA was unable to meet the demands of the online-only version of the game and it was not playable at certain times.
