Travel news website Skift has acquired travel blog Gadling from AOL. Gadling was launched in 2004 and was acquired by AOL as part of a larger acquisition: Weblogs Inc.
Gadling is read by many people for travel tips and travel budget resources. AOL seems to be focused more on MapQuest as part of its travel strategy. Skift also announced a partnership with MapQuest.
?We love what Skift is doing and believe their work leads the market. We look forward to working with Skift to bring great travel content and services to consumers and the travel industry,? stated Brian McMahon, general manager of MapQuest.
Skift will take over Gadling?s online presence from the website to its social media feeds and build it as a companion to the Skift website.
