Microsoft Releases Skype Version 4.0 For Android

Posted Jul 1, 2013

Microsoft Corporation has updated Skype for Android.  The new version of Skype on Android has a cleaner design that has a major focus on conversations.  Skype for Android has been installed over 100 million times.

Skype for Android 4.0 has an emphasis on messaging.  The new version of Skype on Android shows a person’s most recent messages on the home screen.  Call and chat buttons are at the bottom of the screen for quick access.  Messaging is also in the Favorites and Contacts tabs.  The new app will show your conversation history with a person when you tap on their name instead of showing just their profile page.

“We went beyond design and fundamentally changed the way Skype was built, focusing much of our effort on stability, performance, and load time,” stated Skype’s mobile marketing lead Derek Synder in a blog post.
