We already knew that Skype for Nokia’s Windows Phones have been a issue. Now we know that we will not see Skype for Xbox 360 until at least 2013. When Microsoft acquired Skype for $8.5 billion in May of last year, not much as come out of it. Skype has been growing as a standalone product at 26% per year and is nearing 250 million users over the last 7 months.

?We always want Skype to be first and best on Windows, but certainly a strategic part of the value in communications software is working on all platforms,? said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer recently in an interview. ?We?re committed to that cross-platform support.?

One of the signs that Microsoft is investing heavily in Skype is that there are 400 job openings at the company. One of the job openings is ?Skype for Xbox Program Manager.? Duties of the job entails ?enabling amazing new in-game and in-console voice and video experiences for the next generation of Xbox.? There is also a job opening for a Skype web app that would run on HTML5 browsers.
