Snapchat now has text chat and video calling

Snapchat has added two new features to its app. Now when you swipe right on a friend’s name in the Snapchat inbox, it will enter a new chat screen. There is also a new button at the bottom of the screen to initiate a video call. If the other person hits the button, then the call will start.

You will need to maintain your finger on the screen to keep the video call active. Below your finger will be a thumbnail of your camera. The rest of the screen will be filled with your friend’s face.

To switch from your front-facing camera to the back camera, you will need to drag your thumb to the upper side of the screen. The camera will automatically switch.

Once the call and chat is done, you can go back to your inbox. Chat history will be erased. The self-destructive content features built into Snapchat is why the app is so popular.
