Alternative energy company SolarCity is now offering home installation of ClipperCreek EV chargers for electric car drivers. Engadget reports that the charger works with most plug-in vehicles and can charge a car five times faster than a 120V plug. The company also says that the charger in combination with a solar panel can cut drivers’ charging costs in half.

The charger costs $1,500 including installation. The chargers are described in the press release as “designed for use with the Chevy Volt, Ford Transit Connect, Nissan Leaf, Tesla Roadster and all SAE-compatible plug-in vehicles that are soon to be released from major and most new car companies.”
