IT management company SolarWinds has acquired website performance tracking company Pingdom. There are over 500,000 clients that use Pingdom, including Instagram, Twitter, Google, and Pinterest. SolarWinds will be able to use Pingdom to extend its on-premise IT management to web application performance management. It will provide a way to monitor performance across mobile devices, websites, and cloud platforms.
?Based on Pingdom?s transactional business model and commitment to product usability, we believe that it is the right partner for SolarWinds as we extend our leadership in solving these emerging performance management issues,? stated SolarWinds CEO and president Kevin Thompson.
Pingdom and SolarWinds combined will be able to provide greater visibility into critical applications no matter where they are hosted. SolarWinds has a goal of offering a complete view of the application environment and the supporting infrastructure. It will enable administrators to identify and address problems before they affect the end-user.
Pingdom will maintain its brand. Its products will be sold and marketed by Pingdom and delivered as they had before the acquisition. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
