Sony Corporation (TYO:6758) has announced that they have sold over 1 million PlayStation 4 consoles in 24 hours. Sony started selling the PlayStation 4 in the U.S. and Canada on Friday.
“PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” stated Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. “Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support.”
The PS4 is now Sony’s fastest selling console. North American sales surpassed the initial demand for the PS2 in Japan. Sony Corporation (TYO:6758) will start selling the PS4 in Europe in the next 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, some of the consoles were affected by a “blue light of death,” which made them unusable by certain buyers.
