Sony Corporation has announced a new Internet TV service that will be testing later this year. Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House said that they are becoming a pay TV provider and is going to offer customers in the U.S. a cloud-based TV service with live TV and cloud DVR functionality. House said that the service will stream live and recorded programming on TVs, game consoles, and mobile devices without needing set-top boxes. Subscribers will be able to search across the live content and on-demand content. Sony has over 70 million Internet-enabled devices in the market. This is not the first time that Sony has planned on launching an online TV service. Early last year, Sony launched an online TV service called OnCue. Sony is now selling OnCue to Verizon.
