Sony Corporation has announced that the Xperia Tablet Z is now available for sale worldwide through multiple channels. Sony officially announced the Xperia Tablet Z back in January with a 10.1-inch touchscreen (1200 x 1920 resolution), which is equal to a 224 pixel density. The tablet also appears to support the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. The multitouch feature on the tablet can support up to 10 pressure points at any one time. Another great feature is that the Tablet Z has a waterproof rating.
The Xperia Tablet Z also has a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and Android Jelly Bean. The Tablet Z will eventually be eligible for an upgrade to version 4.2. The Tablet Z also has a microSD slot, 8.1-megapixel rear-facing camera (1080p video shooting at 30 frames per second), and a 2-megapixel HD front-facing camera. The Tablet Z is 6.9mm thick and weighs 495 grams.
“Xperia Tablet Z has received an incredibly positive response since it was announced and this is demonstrated by the strong pre-orders the product has received,” stated Sony Mobile Communications Senior Vice President and Head of UX Creative Design and Planning Tomokazu Tajima. “We believe we have created the ultimate tablet experience and one that is uniquely Sony. Who else would design a tablet that can be used as a media center, a TV remote control – as well as sync seamlessly with Xperia Z and be submerged for 30 minutes underwater!?”
The Xperia Tablet Z comes pack with Sony’s WALKMAN, Movies, and Albums apps. The device can also access Music Limited and Video Unlimited. You can buy the Tablet Z on LTE or WiFi. The prices vary by region, but it costs $499.99 in the U.S. for the 16GB model or $599.99 for the 32GB model.
