Spotify Connect Lets You Stream Music To Your Speakers

Posted Sep 3, 2013

Music streaming company Spotify has launched “Spotify Connect.”  Spotify Connect will let you control how and where your music can be played through the cloud.  For example, you will be able to switch back-and-forth from your phone to your speaker when you get home without stopping playback.  People that use Spotify on their iPhone and iPad will find this new service very useful.  The updated iPhone and iPad app now includes the Spotify Connect logo near the pause/back/forward controls during playback.  After clicking the button, you will see a list of available playback devices.

Spotify Connect will also work with speakers and home-audio systems made by Argon, Bang & Olufsen, Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, Philips, Revo, Teufel, and Yamaha.  Some speaker companies are bringing Spotify Connect to their existing products as well.

Through the Spotify app for iOS, you will be able to send an album or playlist to a stereo system or wireless speaker through WiFi.  “We wanted to return to the experience of when a speaker was a just a speaker. Something that just played your music, without having to worry about lots of other stuff,” stated Spotify.

Spotify Connect is going to be available on iOS at first, but it will be supported on Android and the desktop apps soon.
