Sprint and Best Buy Is Giving Students A Free Year Of Talk, Text, And Data

Posted Nov 18, 2013

Now when students buy a Sprint phone at Best Buy, they can get a free year of Sprint service. This includes unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 1GB of data for one full year to students.  If you are a student and are interested in this deal, go to Best Buy between today and January 4, 2014.

When buying a new smartphone or feature phone, activate it through the Student Activated Price and then activate it on a Sprint Unlimited, My Way plan.

According to CNET, you will need to pay for the cost of the phone plus a $36 activation fee, taxes, and other fees.  From there, you will need to go to the Sprint student verification site within 14 days of the purchase to prove that you are a current student.

After you are verified, then your account will be credited for the unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 1GB per month of data.  Sprint said that this is a $70 per month value.  If 1GB of data is not enough, then you can pay $10 per month for unlimited data.  You will also be able to trade in your current phone for a new handset.  Once the one year is up, the account holder will be charged $70 per month.  You can learn more about the Sprint Student Promotion at the FAQ.
