Bob Lee, the chief technical officer at Square, is leaving the company. Lee joined Square from Google in 2010. Lee was originally hired to work on Square’s Android app and he was promoted to CTO in 2011.
?Bob was our 13th employee, and over the past four years he helped establish and expand our infrastructure as we grew from a handful of beta merchants into a company that supports millions of customers,? stated Square spokeswoman Khobi Brooklyn. ?We?re grateful to Bob for all he?s done and we wish him the best in his next adventure.?
Square does not have any plans to hire a new CTO. However, senior technical leader Alyssa Henry will take the engineering lead position following Lee’s departure.
