Steve Jobs’ Yacht Gets Impounded In Amsterdam

Posted Dec 21, 2012

If you have read Steve Jobs’ biography by Walter Isaacson, you may have read the part about how Steve Jobs built a yacht for his family.  The yacht was designed by Philippe Starck.  The yacht was built by Dutch company Feadship and it was completed at the end of October.

However there is a financial dispute around the yacht, which is why it has been impounded.  The yacht is currently sitting at the Port of Amsterdam due to a court order made by Starck.  He said that Jobs’ family owes him more money for his design work.

Starck said that Jobs’ family still owes him $3.96 million, which is 6% of the cost of the yacht.  The total cost of the yacht is $198 million, but Jobs’ family believed that it was worth $139 million.  The yacht will remain at the port until the dispute is resolved.
