StrongLoop Raises $8 Million In Series A Funding

StrongLoop is a startup focused on supporting commercial versions of Node.js.  The company has raised $8 million in Series A funding.  Isaac Roth, the creator of the Red Hat platform-as-a-service OpenShift and sold it to Red Hat, has been recently been named the CEO of the company.

Node.js is a platform that is used for building a scalable network.  Node.js uses JavaScript as the scripting language.  Node.js has a built-in HTTP server library, which makes it possible to run a web server without the use of external software.

Node.js contributors Bert Belder, Ben Noordhuis and Al Tsang founded StrongLoop last year.  This new round of funding was led by Shasta Ventures and Ignition Partners.

StrongLoop launched a new Node.js mobile back-end-as-a-service (MBaaS) called LoopBack.
