T Mobile US Inc (NYSE:TMUS) Giving Free Tablet Data To Subscribers

Posted Oct 23, 2013

T Mobile US Inc (NYSE:TMUS) has announced today that they are giving free tablet data to their subscribers.  T-Mobile, the “Uncarrier” telecommunications company, is giving 200MB per month to tablet users.  This deal applies to the iPad Air and new iPad mini with Retina display.  T-Mobile CEO John Legere and CMO Mike Sievert talked about the new plan during a conference call.  The 200MB of data will be available for tablet customers starting November 1st.

“You don’t have to be a customer of ours at all,” stated Sievert. “You don’t have to have any kind of paying relationship with us at all. We’re just happy to give you 200MB of data for the life of that device as long as you own it.”

“When you buy a product as amazing as iPad, you should be able to connect when and where you want, simply and affordably,” added T-Mobile CEO and president John Legere. “By offering free data for life with incredible upfront pricing, T-Mobile is un-leashing customers to fully enjoy iPad as it was meant to be enjoyed – mobile and connected.”

Tablets that are compatible with T-Mobile’s HSPA / LTE network are eligible for the free data.  T-Mobile is also going to roll out new one-time passes with larger data allotments for customers that run through the data.  By paying $5, you will get 500MB that can be used in a single day.  Paying $10 gets you 1GB to use over a week.

T-Mobile is also offering every tablet in their line-up at $0 down as part of monthly payment plans.  The monthly cost varies based on the device that you choose.  For example, the iPad Air costs $26.25 per month for the 16GB model and the iPad mini with Retina display costs $22.08 per month.

The introductory price of $0 down is part of the Revolutionary Simple Choice plan.
