Tango Hits 150 Million Users

Posted Sep 26, 2013

Tango is a service that lets you make free mobile video calls over 3G, 4G, and WiFi. Tango has hit 150 million users, which is significant. But it is still half of the size of WhatsApp.  However, Tango added around 50 million new users in 6 months.

One of the reasons why Tango saw significant growth is that they expanded beyond video messaging into social networking and gaming.

Tango opened up their communications tool to game developers back in June. One of Tango’s first customers as a gaming partner was Gameloft.  Tango has added 5 more development gaming companies as partners.

Around 10 games have been added to Tango so far.  The company has seen a 33% increase in user engagement, which is double the average number of messages sent and a seven-fold increase in the number of pictures shared on the network.
