When Tap Tap Revolution was launched on the Apple App Store, the game was downloaded 1 million times 20 days after it was launched. Less than 6 million people had iOS 2.0 at the time, which means that around 1 out of every 6 people with the iPhone on iOS 2.0 downloaded it. In April 2009, comScore reported that one out of every three iPhone owners downloaded the game. Now a new version of Tap Tap has been released.
This version is called Tap Tap Revenge: Tour. The music game has three bars that run across the screen with colored dots that drop down with the music. You simply have to tap the screen when the dot reaches the bottom. This game concept is similar to games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Tap Tap Revenge: Tour has a new type of tapper that requires you to slice across when it reaches the bottom of the screen instead of just tapping. There is a tour mode that has players perform an opening in a new city each day. As you go through the tour mode, new encore sets will be created and you can win achievements.
?We?re recommitting to this game,? Disney Mobile Games’ SVP and general manager Bart Decrem in an interview with Mashable. Songs included in this game are by artists like LMFAO, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Lil’ Wayne, Far East Movement, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and AVICCI.
?We’re figuring out how to win on the App Store,? said Decrem. ?It?s a combination of great playing games, understanding opportunities, and leveraging what we are really good at. Getting to #1 is easy, staying it #1 is hard.?
