Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk spoke at a reception in Munich recently where he revealed that the auto company is hoping to open the infotainment system to third-party apps by the end of 2014. Google Chrome will also be coming to the infotainment system. The infotainment systems is built in the Tesla Model S and will also be in the Model X crossover vehicle when it arrives next year.
Musk did not specify how the local apps would work, but he said that Tesla is considering an Android emulator that takes advantage of the Linux platform built in the infotainment system.
