Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk confirmed that there were conversations with (NASDAQ:AAPL). Earlier this week, there were rumors that Apple considered purchasing Tesla Motors. Musk confirmed that there were discussions in an interview with Bloomberg, but did not comment on whether the discussions revolved around an acquisition. However, he did say that an acquisition of Tesla Motors seems “very unlikely.”

When Bloomberg asked if Tesla was for sale, Musk said:

“I think that’s very unlikely because we need to stay super focused on achieving a compelling – creating a compelling mass market electric car. And I’d be very concerned in any kind of acquisition scenario, whoever it is, that’d be become distracted from that – from that task which has always been the – the driving goal of Tesla.”

The San Francisco Chronicle broke the news about Tesla meeting with Apple’s head of acquisitions Adrian Perica. There is also speculation that Apple met Tesla in regards to iOS integration or a potential battery deal.
