Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA): Dutch Students Drive 388 Miles On A Single Charge

Posted Aug 24, 2013

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) achievement unlocked.  A group of Dutch drivers have been able to hit 388 miles on a single charge of the Tesla Model S electric vehicle.  The Dutch students at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU Eindhoven) accomplished this feat in around 16 hours.

Unfortunately for the students, 388 miles on a single charge is not the world record for the distance traveled on a single charge of the Model S.  That record belongs to David Metcalf.

Metcalf is a senior researcher at the University of Central Florida.  Metcalf and his son drive the Model S 423 miles on a single charge between the Everglades and around Lake Okeechobeeda.  The Model S is rated at 250-300 miles per charge.  Metcalf was able to nearly double the rating by driving at an average speed of 18MPH.

The Dutch students traveled at slightly over 24MPH and drove it on public motorways and in traffic.
