The demand for Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) Model S vehicles have been pretty high over the last couple of years and now the company’s next electric vehicle already has a solid number of reservations. The 2015 Tesla Model X has hit over 13,000 reservations, according to The Tesla Motors Club.
Over 10,000 units were in North America alone. The numbers may not be accurate because it is based on a sequence number of reservation holders across the world instead of data from Tesla Motors itself. This number does not include cancellations and reservation holders that may have upgraded from a regular production model to a Signature may have been counted twice.
The 13,000 figure is more than half of the 2013 Model S production in total, which is a big deal for the electric vehicle brand. The Model X also costs more than the Model S. The Model X has “falcon doors” and all-wheel drive. The Model X is expected to have the same wheelbase, length, and width of the Model S, but it will be taller.
