Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is opening Model S electric cars near Waco, Texas today at 10AM. The Supercharger is opening at 701 N. Interstate 35 in Bellmead next to the Collin Street bakery. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) chose Waco as one of the five sites in Texas to put a Supercharger. The Waco station will have eight stalls for charging Tesla vehicles for 150 miles of driving in 20 minutes.
?Superchargers are designed for city-to-city travel, allowing drivers to travel for about three hours, take a 20-to-30-minute break to eat and relax, and get back on the road charged up,? stated Tesla spokesperson Alexis Georgeson in an interview with WacoTrib.com.
Other cities that have Superchargers in Texas include Columbus and San Marcos. These Superchargers will make it possible to drive throughout the Texas triangle free. The “Texas triangle” is known as Austin/San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.
Around 700 Texas residents own Tesla vehicles and most of them receive purchase instructions online because no dealership in the state has them. The state leaders have refused to allow Tesla Motors to open a direct-sell store in Texas. However, Tesla set up galleries in Austin and Houston where shoppers can examine a Tesla sedan, but not test-drive it.
