Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) Passes The NHTSA Crash Test

Posted Aug 8, 2013

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has been approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in terms of crash tests.  The Tesla Model S was given a top five-star rating for each safety category, according to CNN.  The tests included the front-end crash, side crash and rollover crash.

The NHTSA has not previously tested the Model S or the Tesla Roadster.  Not a bad rating considering that Tesla Motors is considered a new automaker.  Tesla Motors does not have years of vehicle designs and safety measures compared to other auto companies.

The Model S has received the “Car of the Year” award from Motor Trend and was rated one of the best vehicles by Consumer Reports.  Earlier this week, Tesla Motors announced that their Q2 income is up 70% and they have sold 5,150 Model S vehicles during that time.
