Tesla Motors Receives $10 Million From California As A Grant

Tesla Motors has received a $10 million grant from the state of California to buy assembly equipment and hire 500 workers to build the Model X SUV.  The California Energy Commission spokeswoman Alison Roberts said that the agency wanted to reimburse Tesla for machinery that was purchased to equip their facility in Fremont, California.

Currently there are over 1,500 people working on the Tesla Model S production at the company’s plant in Fremont.  ?Development of Model X is under way and we?re scheduled to go into production in 2014,? Christina Ra, spokeswoman for Tesla said.
