The $25 Raspberry Pi Computer Now Has An App Store

Posted Dec 17, 2012

The Raspberry Pi has launched their own app store.  The Raspberry Pi Store will work just like Google Play and the Apple App Store.  The Pi Store will make it easier for developers of all age “to share their games, applications, tools and tutorials with the rest of the community. The Pi Store will, we hope, become a one-stop shop for all your Raspberry Pi needs; it?s also an easier way into the Raspberry Pi experience for total beginners, who will find everything they need to get going in one place, for free.”

The store will run as an X application under Raspbian and it will allow users to download content and upload their own content for moderation and release.  At the launch, Raspberry Pi is offering 23 free titles with utilities like LibreOffice and Asterisk.  The Pi Store has games like Freeciv and OpenTTD.  Some of the apps are paid, but are offer as open-source.  You can see the Pi Store at this link.
