The Microsoft Surface 2 And Surface Pro 2 Has Nearly Sold Out

Microsoft Corporation announced the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets under 2 weeks ago.  On the Microsoft Developer Twitter Feed, it was announced that the “Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 are close to selling out.”  The 32GB Surface RT tablet also sold out in October 2012 and shipments were set back 3 weeks.

The Surface revenues were $853 million between October 2012 and June 2013, but Microsoft reported a $900 million charge for Surface RT inventory adjustments.  Their advertising costs for Windows 8 and the Surface was $898 million.

During the first quarter, Microsoft shipped 900,000 Surface tablets and around 1.5 million were sold between October and March, according to IDC.  Apple sold 14.6 million iPads in the last quarter.

Currently the Microsoft Web Store has the 64GB Surface 2 and 256GB/512GB Pro 2 devices available for shipments within four to eight days after their release date.

The Surface 2 has a Tegra 4 processor, Windows RT 8.1, USB 3.0, and 25% more battery life than the previous version.
