The Mozilla Smartphone Will Be On Sprint

Mozilla has announced progress about their upcoming smartphone.  Manufacturing companies like LG, Huawei, TCL, and ZTE will be working on the Mozilla smartphone.  Mozilla showed models of the phones from TCL and ZTE at a telecommunications industry meeting in Barcelona, Spain.

The Mozilla smartphone will be arriving in Europe first.  Sprint will be the first U.S. carrier to carry the Mozilla smartphone.  The European carriers will sell the the smartphone starting in mid-2013.

The smartphone operating system was built using web standards like HTML5 and is “free from the rules and restrictions of existing proprietary platforms,” said Mozilla.  Mozilla will have 18 mobile operator partners in 9 countries.
