The Oatmeal Creator Shares Photos Of Charity Money

Posted Jul 10, 2012

Matthew Inman is best known for being the comic artist behind the web comic The Oatmeal. Inman took photos of the $211,223.04 in cash that his supporters raised for charity. About one year earlier, Inman wrote a blog post bashing on FunnyJunk for stealing his comics and not linking back to his website.

It took about one year for FunnyJunk to react and they asked for $20,000 in defamation damages. FunnyJunk’s lawyer and media attorney Charles Carreon became a target of Inman’s comics. Inman decided that he would rather raise $20,000 for charity, take a photo of the money, and mail it to Carreon along with a drawing.

Instead of raising $20,000, he was able to raise over $200,000. Above and below are a couple of photos that Inman was able to raise.
