The U.S. Unemployment Rate Is About The Same As iPhone Ownership

Posted Dec 3, 2011

According to a Pew report, about 85% of Americans over the age of 18 have a cellphone. In that same survey nine months later, the survey now says that over 10% of the 30,000 test group has an iPhone. This means that about 8.5% of Americans over age 18 have an iPhone. Currently the national unemployment rate is 8.6%. This means that the odds of being unemployed is about the same as owning an iPhone. Owning an iPhone is not cheap either. After buying the iPhone for a subsidized price, you have to pay about at least $100 per month to have 450 minutes, a couple hundred text messages, and a data plan. Although the two statistics aren’t exactly correlated to each other, the data is stil interesting. [Jezebel]
