Tim Draper is scaling back his role at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, the VC firm that he founded in 1985. DFJ is known for investments in companies like Skype, Baidu, Tesla Motors, and Box. Draper will not be an investment partner in the firm’s next fund. However, he will be an investor in any new fund that the venture capital firm creates.
?I am just skipping a fund to do some work building Draper University and experimenting with new models for venture capital,? stated Draper in an interview with Reuters. ?I will of course be an investor in any new fund we create.? Draper University is a mentorship and accelerator program for startups.
Draper will maintain his position as a managing director of existing funds along with John Fisher, Jennifer Fonstad, Don Wood, and Hope Chen. Some of the other members in the management committee in the firm are Josh Stein, Andreas Stavropoulos, Tim Draper, John Fisher, and Steve Jurvetson.
