TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ:TIVO) has announced a new digital video recorded (DVR) device called the Roamio. The Roamio replaces the TiVo Premiere line of DVR boxes.
Roamio: The Roamio line of products starts with the $200 base model, which has 75 hours of storage and can record just four channels at once. The base model has a 500GB hard drive and can record over-the-air broadcasts while the pricier versions of the Roamio requires a TV signal from a cable service. The base model lacks built-in support for streaming to iPhones and iPads. It also has built-in WiFi to access a subscriber’s home network.
Roamio Plus: The $399 Roamio Plus can record 6 high-definitino programs at once with a 1TB hard drive. This model requires digital camera and does not have an HD antenna input. The Roamio Plus has a built-in TiVo stream.
Roamio Pro: The $599 Roamio Pro has a 3TB hard drive, which lets you record 450 hours of high definition recording and all of the features included in the Roamio Plus.
The Roamio Plus and Roamio Pro features Remote Finder. When tapping the front of the set-top box, the TiVo remote will play a song so that it will indicate where you are in the living room. All of the devices in the Roamio line-up are compatible with the $99 TiVo Mini. The Roamio line has Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, and Amazon Instant Video apps.
These TiVo models are required to pay $14.99 per month or a flat fee of $499 for lifetime services.
