Tony Hsieh’s Las Vegas Downtown Project Bought 100 Tesla Vehicles

Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos, has ordered 100 Model S vehicles from Tesla Motors for his Downtown Project in Las Vegas.  The Downtown Project in Vegas is Hsieh’s plan to build up a tech scene in Vegas.  The code-name for Hsieh’s initiative is Project 100, which will be led by Zach Ware.

Hsieh’s goal for Project 100 is to allow downtown Las Vegas residents borrow Tesla Model S vehicles to get around in a way that is similar to Uber and Lyft.  Users will need to give up their vehicles to use the Project 100 service.  The 100 Model S vehicles were bought on March 29th, which is the largest Tesla Motors order so far.  Project 100 will be available as part of an invite-only mobile application in the next few months.

“We are excited to be partnering with Downtown Project and Project 100,” stated Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk in a press release. ?I am a big fan of their innovative efforts to help revitalize and transform downtown Vegas.?
