In Venezuela, there are over 2,500 squatters living in an unfinished 45-story building. The building is called the “Tower of David,” named after the investor who tried to build the tower in the 90’s.
People live up to the 28th floor, but there is no elevator. The squatters have access to electricity and water in the building. Some of the squatters event set up DirecTV satellites.
Making things even more interesting is that many floors in the towers don’t have guardrails, walls, or windows. There is a bodega on almost every floor and guards watch the building entrances. Some people see the squatters as ruining the city, but the squatters believe that they are victims of a failed government.
