Earlier this month, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) wrote a tweet saying “We’ve just opened a bunch of Superchargers to help us get closer to energizing our cross-country route!” The company now has 65 Superchargers in North America, which allows drivers to go from coast-to-coast without having to buy any gas.

Even though Tesla is not allowed to sell vehicles in Texas, they were able to find a loophole to supply customers there. This is why they have a group of 5 Superchargers there as seen in the map below:
Tesla Motors has plans to cover 80% of the U.S. population and parts of Canada by 2014. And they have a plan to hit 98% of the U.S. population and parts of Canada in 2015.
Tesla Superchargers are based near amenities like diners, cafes, and shopping centers. Tesla Superchargers are 120kW and can provide half a charge in around 20 minutes.
There are between 4 to 10 charging stalls depending on the location. The Supercharger stations are GPS located on Google Maps. Tesla vehicle owners can use the 17″ touch screen for locating the Superchargers.
Tesla is also talking to hotels, resorts, and other destinations to encourage the installation of High Power Wall Connectors where customers spend time away from home.
