TutorGroup is an online education company that has received $100 million in a second round of funding. Alibaba, Temasek and Qiming Venture Partners participated in this round.

TutorGroup took investment from these companies strategically as they are expanding aggressively into China and Singapore.

Most of TutorGroup’s offices are spread across Asia and the company has an R&D group in Silicon Valley. TutorGroup started in 2004 and became one of the fastest-growing English language websites. TutorGroup is also offering Mandarin Chinese language learning on Tutorming.org.

TutorGroup was founded by two brothers: Eric Yang and Ming Yang. They launched the website after acknowledging that students in China and Taiwan need an easy way to connect with teachers online.

TutorGroup charges around $25 to join an online class. The website has around 2,000 language teachers and many of them are TESOL certified.
