In the next few months, Twitter will be attempting to stop people from opening their Instagram app by adding photo filters to the Twitter mobile application. Facebook actually outbid Twitter to acquire Instagram back in April.
In late September, I wrote about how Instagram surpassed Twitter in daily mobile users and a couple months before that Twitter blocked Instagram from finding their friends on the mobile photo social network (bitter much?)
Twitter will have filters that will allow people to alter their images according to sources with The New York Times. The source is supposedly a Twitter employee. Due to the popularity of the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram apps, Flickr has seen a massive drop in users.
When Facebook acquired Instagram, Twitter executives seriously considered buying out an alternative photo service. Jack Dorsey and Dick Costolo started to investigate several companies and appraised them. It turns out that the price tags were not worth buying any of them out.
