Twitter Is Now Testing Out A ‘TV Trending’ Service

Posted Aug 14, 2013

As people watch TV, they have a tendency to send out a tweet.  For example, hundreds of thousands of people tweeted out what they thought about the Breaking Bad premiere this past week.  Twitter is now testing out a “TV Trending” feature that highlights the most discussed shows in real-time.

The “TV Trending” feature will show Twitter cards at the top of your timeline with information and top tweets about the shows that are on.

The feature was first spotted by Twitter users @ASG.  This could potentially be a new revenue stream for Twitter.  Think “promoted TV Trend.”  This past February, Twitter acquired social TV analytics company Bluefin Labs so this feature is likely the outcome from the acquisition.
