Twitter’s video app, Vine, now lets you browse the service using trending hashtags. The displayed hashtags are based on what is rising in popularity. This is a great way to discover interesting content that would otherwise go unnoticed.
“We launched Vine with an Explore section to make it easier for you to find great content, like popular posts and hashtags, from accounts you may not follow. Since launch, there have been a ton of awesome, creative posts that don?t always make it to the popular sections. In many cases, these posts include a hashtag that the community is using,” stated Vine co-founder and CTO Colin Kroll.
It is not surprising that Vine has added hashtags because this is a popular feature that is used in Twitter’s micro-blogging service. Sponsored hashtags are also one of Twitter’s largest revenue-producing services. Perhaps Twitter will monetize from sponsored Vine hashtags in the future too. Twitter acquired Vine in October 2012.
