U.S. Antitrust Enforcers Examining Apple Due To Adobe Complaint

Posted May 4, 2010

Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has had a positive relationship with each other up until the iPhone was released. When Apple decided to release the iPhone and iPad, they decided to block Adobe Flash files from the Safari browser built in to the devices.

Most recently Apple banned developers from using software Adobe was planning to release to convert Flash-based games and applications for the Apple App Store. Now U.S. antitrust regulators are considering an investigation of Apple Inc. because of a complaint filed by Adobe.

Adobe claims Apple is hindering competition by blocking Adobe’s iPhone- and iPad- development software. Currently the FTC and the Justice Department are having a discussion about whether an investigation should be pursued. [Bloomberg]
