Mobile push messaging startup company Urban Airship has acquired Tello. Tello will enable Urban Airship to offer an Apple Passbook management product for developers. The price was not disclosed and it was an all-stock deal.
The Tello PassTools product lets companies visually create Passbook items with various kinds of colors and text. The service includes various tools to help you manage Passbook items and analytics to see which passes have been created and which customers have added passes to their iPhones.
“We think the concept and possibilities around what Apple has done here is incredibly exciting,” stated Urban Airship chief marketing officer Brent Hieggelke. “We wanted to be aggressive in the space. We were really impressed by Tello.”
True Ventures is an investor in both Urban Airship and Tello. Urban Airship CEO Scott Kveton met Tello’s Joe Beninato at the True Ventures Founders Camp last year. The conversations took off from there.
