Urban Airship Raises $25 Million

Urban Airship is a mobile marketing solutions company that helps you improve customer engagement using push notifications and location-based marketing.  The service also offers mobile analytics.  Urban Airship recently expanded their services to help developers build an Apple Passbook app.  The company has raised $25 million in additional funding according to AllThingsD. 

This round of funding was led by August Capital.  Foundry Group, Intel Capital, True Ventures, and Verizon also participated in this round.

With the new round, Urban Airship has hit a total of $46.6 million in funding.  Urban Airship is preparing to expand their services beyond just the mobile market.

The company will use the funding to increase their marketing team and grow their location push-messaging services.  The company will be increasing the company’s marketing team to allow them to talk with more brand advertisers.

Urban Airship saw their push volumes and revenue quadruple in 2012.  The company doubled their staff and is on track to hit profitability by Q1 2014.
