Ustream has announced that over 7 million live video streams were broadcasted through their company in the first half of 2013. This is a six-month record for Ustream. Ustream’s Pro Broadcasting package for businesses has grown extensively as well. Direct sales of their premium streaming plan for enterprise customers grew over 600% compared to the same period last year.
E-commerce adoption of their service grew from 2,000 to 4,000 small businesses during the first 6 months of 2013.
The company now has 24 million registered users, which is up 48% from the last 12 months. They are expecting to hit 30 million users by the end of the year. Ustream’s paying customers stream around 40,000 live broadcasts per day, which puts them at 2 billion cumulative hours watched by viewers on the web.
When Sony launches the PlayStation 4 video game console, Ustream will be integrated by default. This will let players stream and watch gameplay sessions. This feature will also allow users to quickly record and share quick snippets using the “Share” button on the PS4 controller.
?With worldwide audiences demonstrating an almost insatiable appetite for live video programming, Ustream is ideally positioned to satisfy their growing demand,? stated Ustream chief executive officer Brad Hunstable. ?Consumers were our first adopters and businesses have followed suit. Expect to see more milestones from us in the coming months.?
Ustream’s Open Pay-Per-View (Open PPV) service launched this past February. This service lets broadcasters charge viewers to access live content for events like concerts, plays, and sports.
