VeriFone Way2ride: A Mobile Payments App That Lets You Pay Taxis With Your Phone

Posted Aug 15, 2013

VeriFone is one of the two companies that lets New York City taxicab riders pay with credit cards.  Now VeriFone has launched a mobile payment application that lets users pay with their smartphones.  This app is called Way2ride and it is available as a free download.  The Way2ride app works on iOS and Android.

VeriFone will eventually integrate Way2ride through their network of 70,000 payment-enabled taxis across the world.

“No more wading through payment screens at the end of the ride. Just scan a credit card with the app, set your tip preference, and you’ll never have to fumble for your wallet again. Your receipts are all saved in the app and online, with a map of your route and tags for submitting expenses. And, with over half the yellow taxis in New York City as members of the Way2ride network already, finding a vacant taxi has never been easier,” states the app’s description.
