Verizon Plans To End Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plans

Posted May 16, 2012

Verizon Wireless CFO Fran Shammo said today that they are planning to end unlimited data plans when customers switch to a 4G phone. Shammo made the announcement at a JPMorgan conference. Verizon Wireless does not currently offer unlimited data plans for new customers. Some of the older customers have unlimited data plans that were grandfathered into their existing plans. Most of the older customers with unlimited data plans have 3G devices. When the older customers buy a 4G phone, Verizon will force them to sign up for a shared family data plan or tiered individual data plans.
