Verizon No Longer Offering Unlimited Data Plans

Posted Jul 5, 2011

Starting July 7th of this year, Verizon Wireless will no longer offer unlimited data plans for smartphones. The company is switching to a usage-based pricing model, and currently plans to offer three options: 2GB of data for $30, 5GB of data for $50 or 10GB of data for $80. FierceWireless reports that users who go over their data limits will be charged $10 for every excess GB.

Verizon customers who already have smartphones with unlimited data plans will be able to keep their unlimited plan if they upgrade on or after July 7th.
