Verizon Planning To Launch Turbo Data Speed Boost In Apps

Posted Nov 5, 2011

Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) will soon publish an API that will allow users to “turbocharge” data speeds for a fee. The new API would have to be implemented into mobile applications by developers. The service will be tied to an on-device payment system and Verizon subscibers would have to pay each time that they would want to temporarily increase data speeds. The pay-per-use speed boosts will be given to subscribers especially during network congestion. The turbocharge feature will require an app that utilizes a network optimization API that Verizon will publish in Q3 of next year. [PCMag]
